The TV out video card arrived and I spent more time fighting with the Windows 98
machine and its spontaneous reboots and blue
screens. Sometimes I think Windows 98 was just designed to sell Windows XP. Wonder
if there’s some media version of Knoppix out there that I could use instead. Ach, but
then I probably couldn’t watch Winamp videos and TV on it which is partially the point.

I also got another 512 MB of memory and BFV finally stopped swapping to the hard drive. It seems
to be happiest with a gigabyte of memory…that’s insane! If you’d told me in 1992 what
I’d be needing a thousand MB of memory to play some game at some point, my jaw would’ve dropped and I’d
have started drooling.
