The Phillipine Food Fortification Program “mandates the fortification of cooking oil with vitamin A, wheat flour with vitamin A and iron, refined sugar with vitamin A and rice with iron.” This is why many of the unhealthy Filipino Cheeto-like snacks say on the front of the package that they contain vitamins. It’s like iodizing salt. Sure, these snacks might have 1/3 of your daily saturated fat and salt, but they’ve got vitamins! So chomp on down!
