I finally figured out why
I was getting hiss in my mic sampling at home. Windows sound recorder records
in 22 KHz 8-bit by default. It’s not very obvious on how to switch to 44
KHz 16-bit so I just used the freeware Encounter 2000.
The interstate was backed
up because of an accident on the way to work. It’s amusing to watch people
here turn on to the entry ramp, realize there’s a traffic jam, and try
to do a U-turn to get off…only to be met with the next wave of people
trying to get on. Just accept your fate…you’re going to be 20 minutes
late for work.
