I was trying the new AOL Instant Messenger’s video chat last night. It’s
not bad. I tried it with two friends who are on modems and it worked just fine.
With headsets being $10 and webcams being $20 at CompUSA,
this is just the ticket to talk to relatives who don’t know much about computers.
Of course, most of the time, I’d probably use Trillian and switch to AIM
when I wanted to do video chat. Now that I’ve upgraded my AIM, it’s time to
play find and delete the hidden AOL icons that AIM has helpfully placed all
over my computer. I picture the AOL head of marketing to be the emperor
from Star Wars. “Iconify them out…all of them.”
