Amazing bureaucracy of the day: I just switched optometrists and
the focus on the new lenses is kinda weird. So I wanted to find out
the difference in the focuses of the old lenses that I was happy with.
I called the old optometrist to find out what the difference between the
two eyes was and they said they can’t give out that information except
to another optometrist. So through laborious faxing exercises, I
had them get the old info to the new optometrist. Then I called the
new optometrist to ask if they could tell me the old prescription information
and they said New Mexico state law says they can’t give out that information
except to another optometrist. Now this is privacy…secret even
from the patient.
