I was just remembering that I used to think the American English accent
was a lack of any accent at all. I thought it was a sort of neutral
robotic inflection. Eventually I learned that it is a particular accent
and sounds distinct to others.
Last night we got a “survey” call at about 9:15 PM. I was searching
around the net and it’s apparently illegal to telemarket in New Mexico
even after 6 PM. Perhaps these “non-profit survey” calls are to
establish a prior business relationship with you so they can telemarket
you later even if you’re on the national
do not call registry.
