I’ve been listening to some software development podcasts. I was looking for educational stuff, but they’re usually just an hour’s worth of acronyms and obscure names without explanation. To decipher them, you HAVE to look at the show notes. A one hour programming podcast can lead to 30 links with hours of reading (where the learning actually happens). As examples, look at Java Posse (41 links) and Herding Code (26 links). No wonder my attention drifts so badly during these things. Maybe I should just look into text-to-speech for wikipedia pages. I’d probably get more from an incomprehensible wikipedia robot voice than I would from several guys playing buzzword bingo.
