We’ve been doing a budget. This allows us to be smarter about money and do things we wouldn’t have been able to otherwise. Definitely worth it. On the other hand, there are the store-brand goods we’re trying out. Jelly that stubbornly holds its cohesion when you try to spread it on the toast. Kleenex that rips in half, rather than coming out of the box. Sodas that taste similar to something that’s almost Dr. Pepper. But you can eventually find a satisfactory cheap replacement for the original item if you try enough different things. Then you realize how much you were paying for some advertising and a name. So, we’re on the store-brand journey. So far, on the list of good alternatives, Albertson’s Essencia pizzas and Cherry Max Cola.
