Google just released google photos. (They gave up on attaching it to Google+.) So, you wanna back up all your pics from your PC to google for safe keeping? Go to photos.google.com where you hopefully have an account. On the left side, click the “…” symbol. Select App downloads and get the Desktop Uploader to get their program to back up all your pics from your hard drive to Google. I feel safer with my pics there, rather than a backup at our house.

Old school hyphenating
I was reading a web page that was hyphenating words on the right margin for line wrapping. It was really jarring. Then I remembered this was a something that they used to teach that to us in school. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it much of anywhere. With modern technology, it seems a pretty bad idea. Having a flush right margin is not so important that it should cause you to stutter over these hyphenated words as you’re reading.
an aria without music
Working in HTML, I thought the aria attributes were just someone getting artistic in the standard naming. I thought it meant the musical “aria”. I finally looked it up. Oh. Not that kind of aria. Accessible Rich Internet Applications.
Internet checkup
I’m home sick from work today with a pretty bad sore throat. To find out if it was strep, I tried out Presbyterian Hospital’s Video Visit through the web. If you’re on a computer, they use Webex to do the session through your webcam. Beforehand, I took a pic of my throat and attached it to the request. Because of the pic, she didn’t need to try looking at my throat through the webcam. Because I don’t have a fever or cough, she was able to say it likely isn’t strep. The nice part of this is that I didn’t have to go wait for an hour at an urgent care.
Uninstall Flash
It’s probably as good a time as any to uninstall Flash. YouTube doesn’t use it anymore and almost nothing does. It’s becoming a bit of a security vulnerability, so why bother? HTML 5 has taken over for the most part.
UPDATE: I didn’t know it, but there’s a separate method to uninstall in Chrome.

don't try Netflix over your cell connection
This may go without saying, but don’t try Netflix over your cell connection. I recently tried it for a while because I was amazed I even had enough speed to do it. Before I knew it, my speed was throttled because I was over the 2.5 GB limit. It goes fast.
Nice network packets…it'd be a shame if anything were to happen to them.
As Comcast (and now Verizon) start charging Netflix for the “privilege of sending data to their customers in a timely fashion”, Netflix should start adding a “Comcast peering fee” to the bills of their Comcast customers and a “Verizon peering fee” for their Verizon customers, etc. This would at least make the general public more aware of the charges. It would also avoid charging people extra at ISPs that are actually doing what their customers pay them to do.
