I’ve been doing more Windows administration stuff at work lately. (I’ve never heard so much mouse clicking.) I was reading about PowerShell. At first glance, it looks like it’s basically Microsoft’s version of Cygwin (Unix command line in Windows). One neat thing about it is that things are piped around as objects that know what they’re supposed to do. You might pipe from one command to another and they’ll supposedly be able to figure out which data makes sense to pass. One annoying thing is that Microsoft can’t make anything without inventing many new buzzwords. For example, they couldn’t just be called “commands”. They are “cmdlets”. Anyway, here’s a podcast on the topic.
