If you use a Windows computer often, you’ve gotten use to a great number of bad, insecure, and non-obvious interfaces over time. You know how to deal with these things because you do them often. How does your mom see Windows? I’ve attempted a rough simulation here. The real thing would be running Windows 98, Internet Explorer with 5 toolbars, pop-ups galore, viruses, a desktop covered with 100 icons advertising free software installation, 30 system tray icons. No wonder it’s so frightening.
